Here’s another new Target deal that makes use of a new coupon in today’s inserts…
Scotch Magic Tape, $0.50 (on sale until 8/14)
Use the $1/3 coupon from the 8/8 SS
Final cost: $0.17 each wyb 3!
**Watch how your coupon scans for this deal! I’ve heard reports where it’s only taking off $0.50!
Thanks, Totally Target!
I just went to target at they tried reducing the coupon value down to just 50 cents.
They told me that since the tape is normally $1, then basically the coupon is a B2G1 coupon which is why it was reduced to the price of one dispenser.
From what I’ve read around the internet, I think the Target cash registers don’t always correctly handle cents-off-multiple coupons where the value of the coupon is greater than the cost of just one item.
I would be interested in knowing how the coupon is coded. If you tell me the UPC code for the coupon, then I can see if the coupon is correctly coded or not.
You’re correct in saying that. I bought notebooks that were $0.50 and I had a $1/2 coupon…the register only deducted $0.50.
There are actually two coupons…the first is for $1/3 rolls of Scotch Magic Tape in FUN dispensers (UPC 551141111426) and $1/3 rolls of Scotch Magic Tape (UPC 521200111421).
Looking at the bar code numbers, the “value code” is the second and third to last numbers in the bar code. In this case, the value code for both of the bar codes is 42, which means “$1 off three or more,” so it looks like the coupons were correctly coded.
If the coupon was a B2G1 as Target tried telling me it was, then the value code would have been 16.

Thanks for the info! It seems like Target’s registers aren’t programmed right!
